Increase Website Traffic

Learn how to increase website traffic free using these simple tips for affiliate webmasters.

These simple tips can help all affiliate webmasters; for beginners to super affiliates, to increase website traffic free.

Even some super affiliates overlook the obvious ways to increase website traffic; or they simply reject these methods because they think its only for beginner affiliates. Often, the simplest methods can produce the best results. Let's cover these basic traffic strategies:

1) Search Engine Traffic. Just about every webmaster knows that the best free traffic is from search engines. But for a search engine to list your website in the results, first it has to know your website exists. When a search engine discovers your website to include it into its search results, this is called "indexing". So how does a search engine discover and index your website? There are two common ways:

(1.1) By manually submitting your website to a search engine; or
(1.2) By discovering your website link via another website.

By far the best method is by having a search engine discover your website link on another website, versus submitting your link manually. The reason is because search engines prefer to see that other websites link to yours, and especially websites that are similar to yours (talks about the same thing). When other websites link to yours, this is called "link popularity". When those other websites that link to yours are similar (same subject matter), this is called "link relevancy", which we will discuss later in this article.

Get Link Popularity AND Link Relevancy via one pay per day affiliate network. Pay a small daily fee to have your website link put on websites similar to yours. Visit FlatFeeSpectrum.com

Link Popularity is very big factor in how search engines rank your website. Your "rank"; as well as other factors, determine if your website will be listed towards the top of the search results; in the middle; or way down towards the last page. Of course, getting the top search result rank is the best free traffic anyone can get. How you can achieve the top ranks is also discussed later in this article.

2) Website Link Traffic. Naturally, having your website link added onto other websites helps you gain free traffic. And; as discussed above, having your website link added onto other websites helps search engines discover your website, as well as helps improve your link rank (Link Popularity). But not all links to your website rate equally. Some links will help you increase your LinkRelevancy and subsequent search traffic more so than other types of links. By far, contextual links (text links placed within relevant content) are the best. We will discuss textual links below, ranking from best to least effective.

(2.1) The best links are ones from "Relevant" websites (websites which have the same subject matter as yours), and does not require a reciprocal link, and will place your link within textual content on one of their high traffic web pages. (Definition: "Reciprocal Link" - A Reciprocal Link is when you must put a link on your website to some other website, in return for having that website link to yours). Non-Reciprocal Links are best, because they are given more points by search engines over Reciprocal Links. It is also suspected that some search engines will penalize your for using Reciprocal Link exchanges. Also, search engines want to see that other websites similar to yours links to your website. Hence, the best links are ones from "Relevant" websites (websites which have the same subject matter as yours), and does not require a reciprocal link, and will place your link within textual content on one of their high traffic web pages. While this is the best way to increase website traffic and improve both search engine Link Popularity as well as Link Relevancy, it is without a doubt the hardest type of link to obtain. Webmasters who own websites that have your same subject matter consider you as a competitor, and will not readily help you improve your search engine rank nor send you free traffic. Hence, you may have to pay for a link placement. Paid links may sound simple, but there are problems, namely that you have to daily monitor those webmaster websites to make sure they do not remove your paid link placement. Another problem is that many webmasters are difficult to contact in the first place. Even if you find a website you'd like to pay for link placement, you may not be able to find an email address, contact form, or a phone number listed. You cannot rely on a domain "WhoIs" search to see who owns the website, either. So how do you contact those webmasters? One way to solve all of these problems (monitoring the link placement, connecting you with webmasters, etc) is to use a marketing agency for 3rd party management. Once again; however, not all marketing agencies are equal. Some won't connect you directly to website owners, nor place your direct link onto those websites, nor show you which websites they placed your link on. If you are not careful, you may end up paying for link placement which never happens, or for link placement onto low rank websites, or placement of your link onto websites which are not relevant to yours. Pulsar Marketing's FlatFeeSpectrum.com network solves all of these problems for you. They let you hand-pick the websites you want your link placed on, they monitor those websites daily to make sureyour link has not been removed, and they link those websites directly to yours.

(2.2) The second best links are from "Non-Relevant" websites (websites that do not have the same subject matter as yours), and does not require a reciprocal link exchange, and will place your link within textual content on one of their high traffic web pages. Although you might think a link exchange with a relevant website as being better than a non-link exchange with a non-relevant website may be better, according to our study it is not. As mentioned above, major search engines are suspected of penalizing websites which engage in link exchanges. Our opinion is they consider link exchanges as a way toSpam their index. For that reason, non-relevant free links are better than relevant link exchanges.

(2.3) Paid link placement onto relevant websites. As discussed in para (2.1), a good way to obtain relevant ways via paid placement is through a 3rd party marketing agency such as Pulsar Marketing's FlatFeeSpectrum.com link network.
(2.4) Paid link placement onto non-relevant websites.

Getting search engines to locate and index your website, and getting other websites to link to yours, is just part of the process to get free traffic from them. Your website needs content, and plenty of it. If; for example, you operate a credit card affiliate website, you need loads and loads of content about credit cards. You should have multipleweb pages; one for each type of credit card such as a bad credit card page, a rewards credit card page, a 0 intro credit card page, etc., etc.. And each page should contain content relevant to each of these types of cards, with unique META tags for each specific page. The more content pages you have, the more chances of increasing search engine traffic.

(3) Paid advertising on a CPA (Cost Per Action) method. With this type of advertising, you pay other webmasters for sending traffic to your website, but only when you actually gain visitors (per click) or customers (per lead or per sale). We discuss these two options below:

(3.1) Per Click. This is when you pay other webmasters every time visitors to their websites click on your advertisement and visit your website. Or, you can bid on keywords at search engines and pay the search engine (and their partners) when people click on your ad and visit your website. We discuss the differences of website per click advertising and search engine per click advertising in paragraphs (3.1.a) and (3.1.b) below:

(3.1.a) Website Per Click Advertising. With this method, your website advertisement (link) is put onto other websites. You can choose relevant websites so you can get a better return on your advertising cost. Pulsar Marketing's PayPerAffiliatePrograms.com offers per click advertising.

(3.1.b) Search Engine Per Click Advertising. With this method, your website advertisement (link) is put onto search engines. There are two problems with this method: Click Fraud; and Keyword Bidding. Click Fraud is a huge problem with search engines. Click Fraud is described as a per click cost generated by a person who is not genuinely interested in visiting your website, but who clicks on your link to make you pay a fee to the search engine. Keyword Bidding is when you have to compete for top advertising space on search engines by paying more per click than other people who are also bidding on the same keywords.

(3.2) Per Lead and Per Sale Advertising. This type of advertising does not charge you any link fees, nor per click fees.Instead, you pay only when actually gain customers. For example: If your website offers a free newsletter, you can advertise your newsletter on other websites and pay those webmasters only when they send you visitors who actually subscribe to your newsletter. Or; if for example, you sell a product on your website, you can advertise that product on other webmaster websites and pay only when you make a sale. Obviously, the per lead and per sale methods prevent click fraud. Pulsar Marketing's PayPerAffiliatePrograms.com network also per lead and per sale advertising.

Other ways to increase website traffic free: Many affiliates; including super affiliates, think it's getting harder and harder to advertise online for free. This couldn't be further from the truth. Fact is, it's getting easier and easier to get free website links. For example, Yahoo has a section called "Answers", whereby people can ask questions to be answered by other people. Let's imagine you have a website hosting website. You can go to the Answers section and search for people who are asking questions about hosting. If you carefully respond; without blatantly advertising, you can answer the question and include your website link. There are also free affiliate forums, such as AddAffiliateLinks.com where you can openly advertise your website. And, let's not forget about blogs. If you use your imagination, you can find more free traffic resources than you have time to use to your advantage.
