Fall Affiliate Marketing Tips & Halloween Safety

Tips to target affiliate programs in October.
What lurks in the shadows? The opportunity to earn revenue, if you think 'outside of the box'.
Halloween lovers will be looking for party costumes and decorations, so you should already have targeted keywords on your web pages.
You can likewise use targeted keywords to promote financial (credit card and payday loan programs) offers. You could; for example, use key phrases such as "Halloween cash loan" (to promote payday loans) and "credit card to order Halloween decorations" (to promote credit cards).
Although the popularity of these targeted keywords and phrases may be minimal, so is the competition at major search engines.
Example: the phrase "Halloween cash loan" renders only 1,530,000 results, whereas "cash loan" (without the 'Halloween' word) renders 73,700,700 results.
This brings out our earlier point of using keywords and phrases to indirectly target consumers. A good percentage of people will shop for costumes via the web, and a percentage of those may not have a credit card, or may need a loan to make a purchase via a local retail store.
Smarter affiliates seek all the avenues to attract year-round traffic to their sites, by focusing not only on popular keywords/phrases, but also the sublime.
But be careful: You want to keep your site focused, so search engines can effectively categorize it. If; for example, your site is dedicated to financial affiliate programs, you wouldn't want to go heavy into the 'party' genre. But, you can still effectively target those keywords in a financial sense, how a holiday, event, etc, relates to consumer finance.
Gear up for the traffic, not only this year but also next year! Pulsar Marketing hopes its affiliates say "BOO!" out of fun, not "BOO HOO" due to a missed opportunity to earn revenue.
Happy Halloween Safety Tips:
Pulsar Marketing wishes you and all affiliates a safe and enjoyable Halloween. Below are Halloween safety tips for children, parents and homeowners:
Children: -
Carry a flashlight, and do not carry any items which interfere with your safety. -
Walk, don't run, and look both ways before crossing streets. -
Stay on sidewalks, and watch for electrical extension cords, potted plants and debris. -
Obey traffic signals. -
Stay in familiar neighborhoods. -
Don't cut across yards or driveways. -
Do not enter yards which are fenced in with a closed gate. -
Stay out of yards with "Bad Dog" signs, or yards which have a dog that is not being supervised and leashed by the homeowner. -
Wear a watch you can read in the dark. -
Make sure costumes don't drag on the ground, nor interfere with your vision. -
Shoes should fit comfortable and provide traction (even if they don't match your costume). -
Avoid wearing masks while walking from house to house. -
Carry only flexible (not pointy nor sharp) knives, swords or other props. -
Wear clothing with reflective markings or tape. -
Approach only houses that are lit. Do not enter anyone's home whom you do not know well. -
Stay away from and don't pet animals you don't know. Parents -
Make your child eat dinner before trick-or-treating. This can help reduce their urge to eat candy you have not yet checked. -
Stay with your children. -
Let your children carry an extra cell phone and instruct them on emergency use should you become separated. -
If your children go on their own, be sure they wear a watch and report to you during specific time intervals. You should know where your children will be trick-or-treating, and what time they should return. Give them a cell phone and instruct them on emergency use. -
If you buy a costume, look for one made of flame-retardant material. Add reflective tape. -
Although tampering is rare, tell children to bring the candy home to be inspected before consuming anything. -
Look at the wrapping carefully and toss out anything that looks questionable. Homeowners -
Make sure your yard is clear of such things as extension cords, ladders, pets, flower pots and anything that can cause tripping, cuts, bumps or bruises. Put your auto in the garage, and stow your boat or camper behind your home. -
Keep your telephone, an emergency first aid kit and a fire extinguisher near your door. -
Pets get frightened on Halloween. Put them up to protect them from cars or inadvertently biting a trick-or-treater. -
Do not welcome any unknown people into your home. -
Battery powered jack o'lantern candles are preferable to a real flame. -
If you do use candles, place the pumpkin well away from where trick-or-treaters will be walking or standing. Make sure paper or cloth yard decorations won't be blown into a flaming candle. -
Non-food treats: plastic rings, pencils, stickers, erasers, coins. -
Healthy food alternatives for trick-or-treaters include packages of low-fat crackers with cheese or peanut butter filling, single-serve boxes of cereal, packaged fruit rolls, mini boxes of raisins and single-serve packets of low-fat popcorn that can be microwaved later. Consider treats such as Chips Ahoy, 100 calorie packs (see image below).
